Residents of Joko Tea informal settlement were left reeling after the gruesome discovery of a young man’s body along the Golden Highway near Vanderbijlpark. The victim, believed to be around 30 years old, was found with multiple stab wounds, sparking fear and outrage in the community.

On Saturday morning, January 3, police were alerted to a chilling scene opposite Joko Tea. The lifeless body of an unidentified male lay in the open, covered in blood.

According to Sedibeng District police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela, officers found the victim with stab wounds to the chest, arms, and back — evidence of a violent and sustained attack.
“Police are investigating a case of murder following the discovery of a body along the Golden Highway,” Maxambela confirmed.

The victim has not yet been identified. Police are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing his identity and the perpetrators.
